A balanced life starts with a balanced meal. That’s right, today we are talking about how to eat the food we love while still maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Joining me today is one of my favorite guests from the past. Lindsay Young and I first met on Instagram, of all places, but her message just clicked with me. Not only are her images beautiful, but she posts everything with balance and grace in mind. Lindsay is active in our Facebook and Your Life Rocks Membership group, and her philosophy on food and wellness fits so well with what we are all about at Your Life Rocks. I am excited to talk all about Lindsay’s Food Freedom Lifestyle with you today!

Whether it’s a new job, new baby, or a new city, life can get a little crazy. I believe we can gain all of God’s blessing from the adventures that life has in store for us. When you are in the thick of messy situations, balance might seem beyond your reach. I am proof that you can find that beautiful blessing of balance even in the busiest of seasons. That is why I wanted to take the opportunity to share my story and the story of the Your Life Rocks Podcast.

If you’ve spent any time with me in person or on this podcast, you will know that I fully believe in the power of personal development. Many people in Christian circles have a few hesitations when it comes to personal development. Shouldn’t the Bible be sufficient for us? Are you worried about false teaching? These questions are valid, and in today’s episode, you are going to hear my loving response to these reservations. Instead, I think we need to focus our attention on a different question.

How are your New Years Resolutions going? Here on the Your Life Rocks Podcast, we tend to focus more on intentions than resolutions because we want to live fully in God’s will. Intentions allow room for God to grow and challenge us. That being said, let’s check in with some of our health goals so far. Health is about far more than a certain diet or avoiding specific foods. We know that good health is found in a holistic lifestyle. After all, God doesn’t care about what size we are or the number we see on the scale. He cares more about our intention and care we are placing in our health.

When thinking about the health of your family, do you ever struggle with the dreaded “Mom Guilt?” Sometimes, preparing healthy meals can be a real struggle. That is why I love Prep Dish so much! Prep Dish is a meal service crafting beautiful, healthy dishes that are Gluten Free and Paleo! With me today is Chef Allison Schaaf, the founder of Prep Dish. She embodies the kind of commitment to an overall healthy lifestyle built on whole, nutritious foods.

Since the intention of this podcast is to help you build balance into your everyday life, I wanted to take a moment to think about the purpose behind one of my favorite systems. Weekly Prep is one of my favorite things to discuss on the show. It’s a habit that has allowed me so much freedom and breathing room throughout the week, and I know it will change your life too. Beyond just giving you the practical steps for weekly prep, I also wanted to challenge your perspective on it.

Let’s check in with our purpose today. I don’t complete my Weekly Prep to make my life easier, although it does most of the time! In fact, it’s not about me at all. As I plan my week, I use the system as an opportunity to remind my husband and my children that I am serving and caring for them. Think about it as a way to speak into the lives of the people you love. It’s a way to say, “I’ve got your back!”

Systems and Structure: I need it, but I don’t always love it. We talk a lot on this show about systems and routines that build up life-giving habits because I believe it really is the root of a balanced life. While I sometimes wish I didn’t have to stick to the system quite as closely as I do, I always miss it when it’s not there. Since taking this new opportunity in my career, I find myself longing for my old routines and habits that made life flow just a bit more easily. Today, let’s take a moment to think critically about why we need to set up routines, and where they might be most effective!

Here it is—we’ve come to the source of my Mom guilt. Baby books. My children are 10 and 8, and I still don’t have photo books for them. Yikes! For so long, I saw baby books as a task that I would never have time to do as a working mother. In my pursuit of balance, I somehow managed to overlook the importance of preserving these memories. However, 2018 is the year that I will suffer the Mom Guilt no more! This is precisely why I am thankful to have Melissa Liberman on the show today. Melissa is going to bestow on us her secrets to scrapbooking success.

Sometimes we can get caught up in life and just take each day as they come.  I like to think that Your Life Rocks is an interrupt to that pattern.  Our goal is to help you build an amazing life through living intentionally.  And that's what this episode is all about.  Being intentional about the traditions in your life.  Traditions are what binds your family together and create deep roots and connections.
